In Mumbai, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh, who was working with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on deputation as an assistant director. Singh was allegedly caught accepting a bribe in August while leading an ED search team that raided a jeweller's home in connection with a money laundering case involving a Chinese-controlled investment app. Despite not being an investigating officer, Singh reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the jeweler after the raid, threatening to implicate his son in the case. The jeweller reported the incident to the CBI, leading to Singh's arrest in Delhi as he accepted the bribe via hawala. Singh's bail application was previously denied, and he is currently in custody. The CBI seized a phone during his arrest, which was registered under a different name.
